Fox and Geese
Hala-Tafl is the smallest of the Tafl games, and the rules go as such:
The players take thirteen (13) pieces of one color, and one (1) piece of another.
The thirteen are known as the geese and are arranged as shown above. The fox
of course is the other piece and is placed on any vacant space on the board.
The pieces
may move along a row in any direction (except diagonal) to the next point.
The fox may jump a goose,"killing" it and removing that piece from play. More
than one goose may be jumped in one move, as done in Checkers. The geese can
not jump the fox, but instead try to immobilize him in a corner. If the Fox
can not move, he loses, but if he can "kill" enough geese, they will be unable
to to corner him making the fox the winner.
